2016 Workshop Schedule

9:00am – 11:00pm

American Tribal Style® belly dance, designed by director of FatChanceBellyDance®, Carolena Nericcio, is an improvisational, group dance style.  Utilizing cues for each movement, a leader sends information to followers of what is to happen next, allowing them to respond synchronously to the music.  This dance form creates auniversal language that allows anyone to be able to dance together without having to rehearse or choreograph.  This will be a beginner level workshop that also touches on basic performance concepts.

LUNCH BREAK 11:00am – 12:00pm

12:00pm – 2:00pm

The Devil Is In the Details: Point A to Point B

Learn how to gracefully transition from one movement to the next by examining helpful foot placement between many of the new and classic ATS® moves, as well as finding these remedies in your own experiments.  Bring us your challenges and we’ll help smooth them out!  The skill level will range from secondary to advanced movements, so it is helpful to have a basic understanding of Vol. 4, 7, & 9 material.

9:00am – 11:00pm

The Devil Is In the Details: New Moves and Variations

Over the years, new moves and formations have been added to the classic ATS® repertoire.  We’ll look at FCBD®’s influence on the influx of new movement, as well as get into the challenging formation and variation, Dueling Duets and Rush Hour.  This will be an intermediate to advanced workshop.  Vol. 7 & 9 knowledge is helpful, but not required.

LUNCH BREAK 12:00pm – 1:00pm

12:00pm – 2:00pm
Where’s My Front?

Changing orientation from our proscenium standard to anything else can be a challenge.  We’ll focus on group formations that allow us to face multiple-sided audiences, as well as, how to set up the chorus in these situations.  We’ll also look at special combos that challenge the standard pathways of our dance.  This will be an advanced workshop that focuses on presentation rather than technique.
